The Process

The process begins as the incoming wash water flows into the separation chamber. Lamella packs create a calm, evenly distributed flow, allowing solids to settle in a controlled manner. Sand, mineral particles, and other solids sink by gravity toward the conical bottom of the Mud Separator. The large effective settling surface created by the lamella plates ensures fast and efficient separation.

At the bottom of the cone, vibration motors compact the settled material. This reduces moisture content, creates a denser solid fraction, and prevents accumulation or bridging, ensuring reliable discharge. The consolidated sand and sludge are then automatically removed by a screw conveyor and transported to a container or collection bin, making the solid fraction easy and cost-effective to handle.

For water streams containing large amounts of fine particles, the Mud Separator can be upgraded with automatic polymer dosing using a Taneco polymer unit, combined with a slow-speed agitator in the cone. These optional features improve settling speed, enhance water clarity, and increase overall capacity.
